Brother Yohanan Elihai passed away on Shabbat, July 4, 2020.
Here are a few links to articles about him:
Ynet, 5 July 2020
Makor Rishon, 5 June 2015
Haaretz, Independence Day 2007
YNET, 12 September 2007
NRG, 2 February 2006
A note about Br. Yohanan: upon reception of Israeli citizenship he chose the last name "Elihai" (My God lives) as a response to the concept prevalent at the time in Europe that God was dead.
We recall that one of Br. Yohanan's requests was to have the Israeli classic "Ein li Eretz Aheret" sung at his funeral. Link to the words; link to the song.
To purchase his written works see the Minerva Publishing Company website via this link.
A funeral service was held for him on Tuesday July 7, 2020 at the Notre Dame to Sion Convent in Ein Karem. A Homily was given by Mgr. Pierbattista Pizzaballa: read here.
